The Prairie Dog
forager notes

Thursday
Want to be happy? Forgive easily and don't spend too much time alone. A new study says people who forgive easily and spend the least amount of time alone are among the happiest. Psychologists say happy people surround themselves with friends and family and are very involved with various activities. I guess it depends on what 'kind' of family they have as many people have rather painful ones. The study also found that happy people care less about keeping up with the neighbours. They judge themselves by their own yardsticks, seldom pit themselves in direct comparion to another's wit, charm or beauty.

ON THE WAY TO WORK I like to look at this church board that usually says positive things like God is Good, or Don't be afraid of opposition, remember Kites fly only against the wind. So today, the board, says (i'm shocked) REMEMBER, THE CALENDAR IS JUST A REMINDER THAT YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED??!!!

SEEN ON THE WEB

A message in a forum on the future of televison in India. Read it. It will make you weep with laughter.

"Firstly I think that the Indian TV Presenters (women) should dress up repectively when appearing on TV. As an indian they should put on indian costumes and not try to act like & dress like europeans. Indian women look very nice when wearing their own customary cloths. My comment is that no matter how much or how hard indian girls & women try to attempt to be european they can never be.... Remember our Gandhi ji's legacy and our indian tradition."

HA HA HA HA AH AH ...Y AAAA HA.

Monday
The existentialists were right. We live in an absurd world. Narendra Modi has won the Gujarat elections and he will serve a second consecutive term as chief minister. What he orchestrated in Gujarat was nothing short of ethnic cleansing, but there he is, smiling widely on today's papers. Elsewhere, the countdown to war on Iraq begins. "Bush says people planning to use weapons of mass destruction are the big global threat. So Washington has pledged itself to pre-emptive, any-time use of weapons of mass destruction if provoked. Is that reasonable or what?" And they'll attack Iraq because Saddam's "dossier" will not be enough to satisfy them. One or two of their super-advanced, all-knowing bomber planes will hit civilians "by mistake." And they will apologise.. but its war you see and hey, people get hurt. The rest of us will watch it on tv. I'll cluck in sympathy, say how all this news of war is "oh so depressing" and go right back to my safe little life.
